Welcome to WeightSmart MD

Lose weight and get healthy in 2010

Weight loss is all we do.

It's not something else we do -
it's what we do.

Period.

Our professional weight loss medical staff, headed up by
Dr. Mark Roberts, has been trained by the American
Society of Bariatric Physicians. We understand that
your schedule is packed full of other commitments,
so we offer a set of office hours to accommodate the
busiest of schedules - including Saturday hours. At
WeightSmart MD, it is our mission to help you to lose
weight to live better.

We believe the best way to achieve positive and healthy
changes to lifestyle or your “way of life” is through
education on the differences between your current
way of life and a healthy way of life.

Did you know that the word DIET comes from the Latin root diaeta, meaning "way of life?" This is how you need to embark on your mission, not just to lose unwanted weight, but to live a new and improved way of life that results in a lighter and healthier you.

If weight loss is among your resolutions for 2010, we are here to help you with a physician supervised weight loss and lifestyle modification program designed specifically for you.

At WeightSmart MD, Dr. Roberts and his staff will work with you to identify a weight loss AND weight management program that best fits your way of life, and help you to live SMART and make SMART decisions.

Support

You are about to embark on a new way of life. You need the support of everyone around you who has any influence on your decisions and way of life. Dr. Roberts and his staff will always be here for you if you need support. But make sure those close to you and especially those living with you understand your goals and your program. It is human nature to be resistant to change. So fall back on your support and ask them to help motivate you when you might need it in a moment of weakness. People who share their goals with others are statistically shown to be more successful in achieving those goals.

Move!

Our bodies need exercise to stay healthy. It is impossible to achieve long- lasting weight loss or a healthy way of life without a regular exercise routine. Adding exercise to your life will increase your metabolism, helping you burn more calories. Strength training will increase muscle mass. This means that you not only burn calories when you are exercising, but enjoy a higher rate of calories burned per hour while at rest! In the beginning, take it slow to avoid injury.

Actions

You have taken the most difficult step in your weight loss program by coming in for your Initial Visit. Every day, continue to act the part of a healthier and lighter you. Stick to the program, take your medication, add exercise to your daily routine, clean your pantry out to help stay clear of temptations and come in for your weekly visit.

Rx

Dr. Roberts will prescribe a variety of items depending on your goals and medical history. These prescriptions may include but may not be limited to an exercise plan, a daily diet (food intake) plan, vitamin supplements, FDA approved appetite suppressants and metabolism- boosting injections. As you lose weight your body will change and therefore require updates to your prescription(s). Therefore, you will need to return to the office on a regular basis for monitoring and updates.

Time

It took time to put the weight on, and will take time to take it off.

More importantly, as time goes by, you will enter the maintenance portion of your program. It will be very important to periodically and regularly remind yourself of your weight loss journey. Based on your way of life and medical history, Dr. Roberts and his staff will help you develop a maintenance program that will include self- evaluations to ensure you are not sliding back to your old, unhealthy way of life, and maintaining your exercise, nutrition plan, and any prescriptions you may be continuing.
